Meet the senior management team at Cellectricon:
Mattias Karlsson, CEO
Mattias was involved in founding Cellectricon, and joined the company on a full-time basis in 2003 as VP R&D to develop the product portfolio. He has contributed to the company with most of the patents and the conceptual work to define products from existing IP. Mr. Karlsson currently holds the position of VP Business Development, and is responsible for marketing and sales activities.
Mattias has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg and a M.Sc. in analytical chemistry from Gothenburg University.
Paul Karila, VP Discovery Services
Paul is Head of Cellectricon’s Discovery Services which was launched in 2013. He joined Cellectricon from AstraZeneca (AZ) where he held leadership positions at the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and later at the department of Neuroscience. At the R&D facilities, Paul led teams responsible for ion channel and GPCR profiling in LI-LO phase, mainly on analgesia targets, and most recently a target identification/target validation team focusing on native (human) tissue. Prior to joining AZ, Paul was a Postdoctoral Fellow at School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, USA, studying neurobiology using electrophysiological methods, and a Graduate student in animal physiology at University of Gothenburg, Sweden (1991- 1997).
Johan Pihl, VP Technology and Engineering
Johan joined Cellectricon in 2005, and has been in R&D and commercial positons at the company. He has been involved in the development of Cellectricon’s microfluidics-based electrophysiology platform for recombinant cell lines and primary neuronal cells, and managed the development of Cellectricon’s electromanipulation platform, Cellaxess Elektra. He currently holds the position of VP of Technology & Engineering at Cellectricon, and is responsible for developing Cellectricons internal technology platform for Discovery Services. Johan has a PhD in Chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology, and is the author and co-author of a number of scientific publications and patents.
Kristina Hillskär, CFO
Kristina was appointed CFO of Cellectricon during 2016, and has over 25 years of experience from similar positions in various industries. Kristina has worked within auditing, electronics, and finance.
