Cellectricons Cellaxess technology is a refined electroporation
method for targeted delivery to a wide range of biologically relevant
cell types including primary cells and cells traditionally considered
hard to transfect. In addition, the technology is ideally suited
for high quality transfection in tissue slices and in-vivo explants.
The method is based on a patented capillary electroporation concept
where agents and focused electric fields are delivered simultaneously
to a cell culture. Capillary electroporation is highly efficient
because of excellent spatial, temporal and fluidic control. Cellaxess
can be used for introduction of all types of molecules, ranging
in size from target-designed dyes, to oligonucleotides, and large
plasmids, and if desired, read-out can be performed within seconds
after transfection.
Besides from transfection, the Cellaxess technology is ideally
suited for siRNA screening studies to study the function of a specific
protein, or the interdependencies between a specific function and
a cluster of proteins. Other applications are intracellular target
screening where receptor/ ligand studies can be conducted on an
intracellular protein in a cell-based assay format.
